In 2010, Run Melbourne is set to prove its rapidly growing reputation as Victoria’s premier community fitness event. With the option of a 5km run/walk, 10km run or half marathon, ‘anyone can’ join in the challenge and run/walk on
a course that features some of Melbourne’s icons.
Highlights of the run include Federation Square, St Kilda Road, Government House, The Shrine of Remembrance, The Royal Botanic Gardens, Birrarung Marr, the Yarra River and the MCG.
Indeed, the course not only winds around picturesque parts of the city, but has stunning views of the city skyline. Event manager, Fergus Floyd says: “Whether you are new to Melbourne or born and bred, this course showcases some of Melbourne’s best assets.”
During the past year we have worked closely with Everyday Hero to make it even easier to raise money for your preferred charity. When you enter Run Melbourne, Everyday Hero will automatically create an online fundraising webpage on your behalf. Simply customise your page, invite friends and family to sponsor you and help us reach our 2010 fundraising target of $750,000!
Nathan Betteridge, CEO of Everyday Hero says, “Everyday Hero is delighted to continue its partnership with Run Melbourne presented by The Age. This year participants will be able to turn their running efforts into much needed funds for over 200 charities, schools and not for profit organisations.
“Last year 1514 people created online fundraising pages helping raise an amazing $533,000. This year we have set a target of $750,000 which would make Run Melbourne one of the country’s leading community fundraising events.
Many talented musicians will be joining the effort on the streets of Melbourne for our on course entertainment, spurring runners and walkers on with their sensational songs. Furthermore, Run Melbourne has brought a whole new level of fun to a “fun run” with the inclusion of a fancy dress competition, sponsored by Nandos. The participant dressed-up in the most creative, wacky and fun costume at Run Melbourne will win $1000 for their favourite charity!
