Forget the daydreaming and get ready to strap in and take off in 2009 for the ride of your life!
Forget the daydreaming and get ready to strap in and take off in 2009 for the ride of your life! You’ve heard it all before, but never have the words ‘the perfect gift for the person that has everything’ rung so true.
Imagine being able to give yourself or someone else an unforgettable experience, a memory etched in consciousness forever and an opportunity to experience the adrenalin rush that only fighter pilots know first hand. Introducing XJET; a company that provides missions for the general public in authentic ex-military aircraft. Just imagine, you… yes you, the next Maverick or Ice Man, even if only for a little while!
The Hunting Percival T.Mk.5A Jet Provost (let’s refer to it as the JP5) is the star of this incredible operation with a fabulous supporting cast including the Aircraft’s owner, an aviation enthusiast and qualified pilot himself, Hugh Waltho who gave the JP5 wings to soar again after a meticulous restoration. Hugh has tirelessly sought out the appropriate approvals from all the varying authorities to bring the JP5 back into its former glory.
Dale Anderson, Managing Director of XJET is a Corporate Jet Pilot and qualified Aircraft Engineer who also handles the business operations of XJET. Dale explains that bringing the JP5 to the skies over Docklands and beyond has been a lengthy and complex process which required the adherence to strict procedures and consultations with varying authoritative bodies. Dale is also a Docklands resident and is extremely excited about the future for the XJET venture and sharing the experience.
“Our Jet Provost is undeniably one of the best in the world. We must be the only civilian operator to hold the full approved data library for all maintenance and flight operations whilst methodically recording all parameters of engine and airframe analysis after each and every flight in traditional RAF log books. We continue to operate our Jet to the original stringent military schedules of maintenance with air force trained and qualified engineers whom have worked on these jets their entire careers.”
The concept is fantastic; the experience is potentially life changing but who’ll be flying this thing you may be wondering. Fear not, XJET pilots are all former military pilots and have or continue to fly commercial aircraft for recognised airlines. Chief Pilot Darcy O’Conner is a well respected aviator and has a long and distinguished aviation background. He is currently a training captain with one of Australia’s major airlines as well as making continual air show appearances and on active reserve for the RAAF Point Cook Museum along with fellow pilot Peter Clements.
XJET’s other two all military pilots are Peter Clements and Keith Hartly, who between them have flown both domestically and abroad in everything from helicopters to supersonic jet fighters. With experience in the RAF, prestigious Roulettes, RAAF, international test piloting and operations in conflict zones these two pilots complete the heavy hitting cast of pilots for XJET and ensure the ride of your life!
XJET offer three designated missions and one you can plan yourself which incorporate anything from aerial stunts, air combat and mock bombing runs and manoeuvres to high altitude, low altitude aerobatic adventures doing straight up loops, barrel rolls or nose dives whilst also experiencing the full effect of both positive and negative ‘G’ forces and a range of other adrenalin pumping stunts I am exhausted just thinking about.
Words can’t always express some of life’s highlights and the XJET experience falls into this category, but for an experience of a lifetime or to give the gift of a lifetime experience you certainly cannot go past XJET.
XJET is not for the faint hearted (literally) or the short pocketed with adventures priced between $2500 - $3000, but sitting beside the pilot, privy to all communications, suited up with life support equipment by your side as you gasp at the views from above there is no doubt the purring jet turbines behind you, the Viper jet engine, speed of 800/kmph below you and the rush as you are pushed back into your seat will undoubtedly be the closest thing you’ll find to blowing your mind, legally!
XJET assume passengers are in good health, while pregnant women, people with spinal or heart conditions are advised to consult a health professional before take off.
This is the ultimate Birthday, Retirement, Motivational, Fathers Day and Anniversary Gift on the planet. Get ready to take off with XJET in 2009.
