Melbourne\'s Overload Poetry Festival is upon us again. Now in its ninth year, the festival is a firm fixture on the cultural calendar, continuing to highlight Melbourne\'s thriving poetry scene.
This year\'s festival features some innovative approaches to spoken word poetry, including Time Lapse, an event held in conjunction with the National Gallery of Victoria. This event will see poet participation in spoken word responses to the photographic
exhibition Timelines: Photography and Time on display at the gallery. With five celebrated Melbourne poets performing at this event, no doubt dedicated poetry and photography fans and lovers of metaphysics alike will find this event intriguing.Another exciting event is the Melbourne Poetry Map. Produced by Eleanor Jackson, the project titled Audio Graffiti is a downloadable self-guided tour through Melbourne\'s CBD. With input from twenty-one of Melbourne\'s best spoken word poets, the tour weaves its way through the city discovering the architecture and spirit of the city, evoking the thoughts memories of those who know it intimately.
These are just two of many the events to be held from
September 10th to 19th in and around the city.
