Moonee Ponds Creek Coordination Committee

A new Strategic Plan for the Moonee Ponds Creek is the centrepiece of a process of restructuring the relationship between local councils, friends groups and other stakeholders through much of 2009-2010.

The Strategic Plan will underpin consistent ongoing management of the Creek corridor. The Moonee Ponds Creek Co-ordination Committee has today released the draft version of the Strategic Plan for public comment through to 19 February. It is available via the MPCCC website http://www.mpccc.org/ and at municipal libraries.

The plan has been developed for the MPCCC by the consortium of Land Design Partnership, Urban Enterprise and Golder Associates with the oversight of a working party led by Hume City Council Manager Sustainable Environment Nick Walker with representatives from the Friends of the Moonee Ponds Creek and the other councils along the Creek: Moreland, Moonee Valley and Melbourne.

The Strategic Plan seeks to update and build upon directions established by the 1992 Moonee Ponds Creek Concept Plan developed by Melbourne later for the then Moonee Ponds Creek Association, in line with increasing environmental activity and awareness in all levels of government and the community. It also addresses changed realities on the ground due to a range of developments along the Creek in the ensuing years and increasing concerns about preservation of indigenous and non-indigenous histories.

Written comments relating to the Strategic Plan are most welcome. Please get them in before 19 February 2010. They are to be sent via Nick Walker at Hume to be forwarded to the consultants:
