On US television, it was reported that on the ninth day of the ninth month in the year 2009, the first baby born at 9.09am in the USA weighed in at nine pounds, nine ounces.

It was announced that the future planning for the Docklands precinct will now be shared with Melbourne City Council. The Sate Government, VicUrban and Melbourne Council are currently working on plans to determine the division of responsibilities. MCC will now have a significant role in future development of the entire waterfront precinct.

Honda stood firm on their environmental promise and resigned from Australia’s marine engine representative body – the Outboard Engine Distributors Association (ODEA). Parks Victoria announced successfully removed and safely relocated silt that had built up at two popular spots along the Yarra – Burnley Harbour entrance and the floating shared trail from Punt Road to Cremorne Bridge.

Approximately 12 truck-loads of silt were relocated to the cutting adjacent to Herring Island. The relocation has ensured the on-going safety for millions of river users in Melbourne, both on and off water.
