John Tabbart, the man who first initiated Melbourne’s Docklands project and helped get it off the ground before running VicUrban - presented his vision
to transform Sydney’s CBD’s last remaining brownfield site, Barangaroo. John delivered a 30 minute presentation at a Property Council luncheon to develop the 22 hectare site on the city’s edge into an ‘eco-friendly’ multi-purpose water front precinct to attract the “common people of Sydney.”
Docklands Bank on New Technology
ANZ have announced that it’s 6500 staff have all been issued with cards with Visa contactless chips that will be used to purchase goods from 11 retailers and 80 vending machines in the ANZ Centre across its new offices in Docklands. The cards double as security passes to regulate access to the building and will also be used to authorise print jobs. The new cards will communicate with readers via radio waves and don't have to be swiped through a terminal like mag stripe cards.
Design Awards
Melbourne Advertising and Design Club (MADC) Awards were held at Central Pier. The industry elite representing companies such as Clemenger BBDO, George Patterson Y&R, Grey, Lifelounge and The Campaign Palace were all shortlisted in nominated categories for awards in the communication arts world.
Tall Ship Celebrations
Docklands stood tall and celebrated Melbourne Day on Sunday 30th of August in grand style to mark the 174th year since European settlement along the northern banks of the Yarra River. The replica of the tall ship – Enterprize docked at Waterfront City and was opened to the public for tours following the official flag raising at Enterprize Park - the site where Captain John Lancey and his crew first set foot
on the river banks in 1835.
