Docklands Yacht Club has just announced the fabulous news that they have been selected as Host Club for the Special Olympics Sailing Regatta. This regatta is for anyone with an intellectual disability (8 years and older) who would like go sailing. The regatta will be run over two Sundays.
Sunday 19th April will be an introduction and coaching day for those who are interested in competing in sailing at the Special Olympics Victorian Regatta. Sunday 26th April will be a coaching day with some scheduled races.
Sailing in the Access dinghies used by Sailability is fun and safe. These easy to sail small boats are ideal for people who haven’t sailed before. Most Special Olympic sailors will be accompanied by an experienced partner, but there are two-person and solo divisions for sailors who would like the extra challenge. There will be plenty of training, support and encouragement
from the experts on both days.
