Pam Ann Live

Pam Ann, the glamorous, sharp-tongued air hostess from hell, is the fabulous monster creation of Australian comedienne, Caroline Reid, who has grown from cult status to international celebrity. Flying high from her sell out 10 city USA tour, two sold out shows at the London Palladium and a sold out European Tour, Pam Ann touches down in Australia dressed and pressed in her immaculate uniform to take audiences on the white knuckle ride of their lives.

Caroline’s one-woman show lands in Melbourne this August with her portrayal of the gutsy air hostess, which is unique and wildly hilarious as she identifies quirks of some of the biggest international airlines and their stereotypes, mixing it with a generous dose of camp, glamour and humour. Pam Ann takes no prisoners on tour and no one is safe from her razor sharp wit, her observations of people’s behaviour, habits or manners…or lack
of them.

You clearly epitomise the days of the glamorous air hostess, where the skies opened up the golden age of in-flight service with a smile, have memberships to the mile high club diminished over the years or are they as sought after as ever?

On Pam Ann Airlines we encourage First Class pax to join the Mile High Club, that’s why we installed king sized flat beds in First, mood lighting and full body massages... with happy endings.

I actually founded the Mile High Club back in 1976 with Bob Marley at 37,000ft over the Virgin islands, he said to me ‘No Woman No Cry’, which went on
to be huge, like he was, mmmm!!

Post 9/11, 2001 and the introduction of stringent security regulations it must be pretty hard in the cockpit for pilots without congenial visits from passengers, are hostesses allowed to visit the cockpit during long flights?

Oh yes sometimes I even have had to take over the controls when my pilots get carried away on their Twitter and Facebook pages, or when they fall
asleep at the controls and over shoot Minneapolis.

Most passengers appear quite weary after an overnight flight, how does Pam Ann keep such an amazingly fresh, impeccable appearance, what is your secret?

Bogata layovers! Elizabeth Arden 8hr cream and a little powder round the
nose before touchdown always works for remaining fresh, impeccable!
Where is your favourite destination to fly to and why?

I always love flying home to my Pam Ann HQ at JFK. NY has the busiest airspace in the world which remains thrilling for me; I swear I saw an old TWA plane in the sky the other day that just never came down. NYC is my home and to me it is the best city in the world!

Is it true that the safest seating on a flight is at the back of the aircraft as in the unlikely scenario of a crash the tail always points up?

Well let’s just say if you are flying at 500km per hour heading towards the Atlantic Ocean I can guarantee you it doesn’t matter where you are seated
and no life jacket is going to save you.

Have you worked on Australia’s own flying kangaroo?

No I have never worked for Qantas but my LIVE DVD ‘Come Fly with Me’ is now showing on board Qantas’ in flight programme. Qantas the Spirit of Australia is always my first choice of travel down under. After all they have never had a crash...tick tock!!! Mmmm, but they have had a gaping hole in the side of their aircraft!

What do you intend to impart on future travellers that come to see your Melbourne Shows?

It’s always exciting coming back home to Melbourne, my birthplace! I can’t wait to touch down at Tullamarine which is actually an ancient aboriginal word for ‘get me the f... out of here’ and share my world travels with people from suburbs like Vermont who have never left their lounge rooms! See you don’t have to leave Australia; I can bring the world to you!
