Introducing the Robbins Group - Offering Human Resources Solutions to Docklands

When Maria Robbins started the Robbins Group five years ago, she realised her long term vision of creating a consultancy that activated business performance, provided clients with practical, pragmatic and business focused Human Resources and Employee Relations outcomes. As the Robbins Group continued to expand, Docklands seemed the obvious location.

How long has Robbins Group been located at Docklands and what attracted you to base your company here?

The Robbins Group has been located at Flinders Wharf for almost two years; we were attracted to Docklands for its fantastic location, its proximity to the city and the potential that it offers. We have been keenly watching the major development going on around us and it is so exciting to be part of this new and happening business hub.

Who does the Robbins Group work with?

Mid-tier, government and corporate clients primarily make up our client base.We also do a significant amount of work with not-for-profit clients and have a pro bono partnership with the Sacred Heart Mission.

Why did you start a business focusing on Human Resources/Employee Relations?

I have always been passionate about providing clients with the right solutions for their business. The Robbins Group specialises in business improvement outcomes, we don’t sell products or systems we instead design solutions meticulously catered to each individual requirement of our clients’ businesses.

As a graduate, I had a very strong vision for a business consultancy that delivered practical, pragmatic results to the business community. This vision is underpinned by a team of consultants with serious industry know-how, something I call ‘grunt.’

Collaboratively, the HR Consultants that make up the team at the Robbins Group have wide ranging capabilities and extensive experience; all of our consultants have a strong commercial focus and blue chip career experience.

With the introduction of a new workplace relations system under the terms of the Fair Work Act, what advice would the Robbins Group offer to the business community of Docklands?

We have been working closely with our clients in relation to the Fair Work Act. We believe a strong business focus will minimise the impacts.

To optimise business performance companies need to take a strategic business risk approach to the Fair Work Act. Compliance is obviously important but a business risk focus, the right leadership skills and HR systems in place to support your staff is the best way to produce positive business outcomes. Our commercial experience and knowledge of industrial relations has proved to be very useful for businesses adapting to the recent changes.
