Lee Vitiello is the owner operator of Melbourne Boat Sales and Marine Solutions. Boating is in his blood while service is at the forefront of his mind. 3008docklands discovers why Docklands, Lee and his staff continue to ride the wave of success.

Where did your passion for boats begin?

My great-grandfather and grandfather were merchant seamen; it’s been a family tradition. My wife Jenny and I have been involved in business for over twenty years. It’s great to be able to make a living out of something you love to do and we are proud to be Victoria’s newest boat brokerage.

You are a Sunseeker Select Broker, what does that mean?

It means we are authorised to represent the premier brokerage for top of the range used boats, showcasing the marque’s fleet of sports boats, cruisers and motor yachts. We also provide an opportunity for owners to sell
their vessels through an experienced, customer focussed marine outlet.

For first time buyers what is the most suitable vessel for Docklands residents?

We stock boats priced from thousands to millions but a good starting point regardless of your budget for a beginner would be a nice 25-30 foot boat. Part of our standard service is to provide 5 hours of instruction with a private skipper to show the buyer all the ins and outs of the vessel and to explain the fundamentals including fuelling, safety, tying up the boat and approaching and leaving the dock.

What does the Docklands area offer your business that can’t be matched at different location?

We are right in the heart of the City, only 35 minutes away from either airport so for our many interstate clients the central position is extremely convenient accommodation-wise. We literally hold a range of our stock on our doorstep and being a sheltered harbour the outlook here is beautiful.

Rather than concentrating on just one area you have branched into brokerage, accessories and maintenance, doesn’t this complicate running your business?

We offer the highest level of customer service as standard where every
