The Chocolate Egg & Easter

The Chocolate Egg & Easter

It’s Easter time again and for many of us that means a time for gorging oneself on as many differently coloured chocolate eggs as can be consumed before the children realise that their stash has been considerably diminished.

Too much chocolate is not good for kids, right; it’s my duty as a parent to moderate “their” intake, correct?!

Well I thought I would write a story about why we eat chocolate at Easter but after reading pages of historical notes on the symbolic representation of the resurrection of Christ to the conflicting story of the pagan celebration of spring (on the other side of the world) and the egg being the symbol of fertility and all things springlike, I am completely confused and have discovered that this chocolate story is a complicated and long one, so to that question, “Why do we eat chocolate at Easter?” I have decided to answer that with – “Why not!”

The weather is starting to get cooler and it’s definitely time to go in search of a good hot chocolate or some rich melt-in-your-mouth chocolate eggs and the occasional fluffy bunny soft toy to brighten someone’s day.

We may not have found the correct answer to yet another profound egg question, but I can tell you that the some of the most delicious and beautifully presented chocolates and chocolate gifts can be found in Docklands, and with a little investigation, I think you’ll discover that too! Happy Easter to all our 3008 readers and we hope you will find your true meaning of Easter and chocolate among family and friends.
