It's only been a couple of months since we last featured our 3000Melbourne insert and yet so much has happened. Melbourne turned another year older on August 30, which is officially known as Melbourne Day, and on the same day, Melbourne was declared the best city in the world to live according to the latest global liveability survey from the Economist Intelligence Unit. Now that's a pretty decent birthday present Melbourne!
We are all proud of our city, and I think Lord Mayor, Robert Doyle sums up the sentiments of all Melburnians. "To have recognition from a world-body that evaluates cities all around the world in an objective way - tells us something very special about our city. I think we should celebrate that."
We should indeed celebrate our fabulous city; it's not just the most liveable city in the world but it is also the most vibrant, beautiful and culturally rich. This October we have an opportunity to celebrate and show off our beautiful city, as we welcome performers and visitors from around the world taking part in the incredible Melbourne Festival.
We hope you enjoy this issue of 3000Melbourne and take the opportunity to enjoy and celebrate the fabulous events our city has on offer.
