Docklands set to flex plenty of party muscle
It’s official, Docklands is set to show-em how it’s done, and not a moment too soon.
Just in time for summer, and with the festive season just around the corner,
it’s great to take a walk around Docklands. No doubt, Docklands will be filled with the sights and sounds of many celebrations, alfresco dining and plenty of good times to be had by all. With great views from Victoria Harbour right at our door step, it’s a given that the rest of Melbourne may feel left out, wondering what all the fuss is about.
With such fine establishments to choose from such as Livebait, Bluefire Grill, Woolshed Pub and Butchers Grill, to only name but a few, how could anyone resist having dinner overlooking the harbour at sunset, with the magnificent back drop of the city, and all just a short walk away, you would be hard pressed to find a better way to end your day. My friends, it’s official, Docklands is set to flex plenty of party muscle.
As well as the outstanding selection of restaurants and bars, why not take time out to enjoy the many parks in Docklands. Unashamedly modern and most of all inviting, these parks are what some consider as leading examples of water sensitive urban design.
Situated alongside the southern promenade of Victoria Harbour, Water Plaza Garden is not only visually impressive, it’s very cool. The amazing feature is that it is self irrigating, using only the rain water collected from the paving, how good is that? Or what about Docklands Park, this multi award winning park situated between Bourke Street and Collins Street in Victoria Harbour. It features sustainable wetlands, bike and walking tracks, as well as BBQ facilities and a fantastic playground. It is a great place to take the kids for some fun in the sun or an ideal venue to celebrate Australia Day 2011.
And as Harbour Town Shopping Centre switches into holiday mode, there is one event not to be missed. Harbour Town Christmas on Ice at Medibank Icehouse, a show featuring special guest, US ice dancer, Johnny Weir for select shows. This promises to be the hottest ticket on ice.
