Sea kayaking is a fabulous way to unwind after work or a busy day or to simply relax and take in the sights.
The Docklands sea kayaking tour is the most popular of the summer season and was originally developed for novices to allow paddlers to get up close to yachts, ferries and ships while taking in the picturesque views of Victoria Harbour, Southbank and the Westgate Bridge.
Director of Sea Kayak Australia, David Wood encourages residents and people working in the area to explore the Docklands by water for a different view. “Our tours provide a balance of safety, environment and adventure. Sea kayaking is our passion – something we like to share with the community.” Additional to the spectacular views, commentary on the history of the “old docks” is also on the agenda.
Tour groups are scheduled for the morning, afternoon or at twilight while courses can be arranged for corporate and community groups as well as school groups. Group sizes vary from a minimum of four people to a maximum of sixteen. Qualified staff will brief you beforehand on all safety procedures and there are snack breaks and rest stops.
You don’t need to be fit, you don’t need to be experienced in kayaking you just need to be a little adventurous and enthusiastic. The novice tours are generally three hours in duration and the $80 fee includes all equipment.
