The Docklands Community Association held an evening at Renzo’s last month meeting old and new members, we thank Renzo for providing great feast and venue.
This month we held a Women’s breakfast at Fix in conjunction with Westpac Women and featuring Arthur and Mimi Galan fashions. Ticket sales were well beyond our belief and we have extended to allow another 50 guests.
The next major event will be at Christmas and will include the Christmas Carols and our final function for 2008. The committee have been busy attending meetings including Harbour Esplanade redevelopment, Westgate updates, and a Transport forum with Bronwyn Pike.
Roger Gardner attended The Safe City Summit at The Town Hall as a representative of Docklands Community. We have received notification that as “The Toy Vehicles” bylaw has been passed, we now await notification regarding the areas to be designated. It with deep regret this month the community has lost two very dear members. Margaret Crump from Yarra Edge who put tireless hours into the community at Yarra Edge and then a week later Julie Kehoe from New Quay who was one of the very first residents and Community Association members at New Quay. Those of us that knew Margaret and Julie will miss them both deeply. As council elections draw near I wish to advise the Community that I (Michele Anderson) will be standing on the Morgan/Clarke ticket in the position of deputy Mayor.
