Almost 300,000 fans attended the thrilling 2009 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix – the 804th race in Grand Prix history and the first Grand Prix ever run at twilight time.

The biggest grid Melbourne has ever seen will battle it out at Albert Park in 2010 with 26 cars including four new teams (Campos Meta, Lotus, USF1 and Virgin Racing).

Aussie hero Mark Webber returns as a race winner, following his maiden victory at the German Grand Prix on 12 July, 2009. Michael Schumacher will also return with German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz after a three year break from Formula One. Schumacher’s return will see him break a strong bond with Ferrari dating back to 1996.

“If the past couple months are any indication 2010 is shaping up to be a big year. The stage has certainly been set for a dramatic season of racing,” said Mark Webber. “I can’t give away too much but we have some new tricks up our sleeves and I can’t wait to get home and get on that grid,” he said.
